ELISABETH MOSS STUNS IN 1990s RIOT GRRRL EPIC, ‘HER SMELL’, OPENING ACROSS CANADA

Female-stacked rock ‘n’ roll drama captures the highs and lows of drug-addled fame, and personal transformation - opens at the Lightbox on April 12.


April 8, 2019 (Toronto, ON) - Featuring a ground-breaking and career-defining performance from Golden Globe and Emmy-winning Actress Elisabeth Moss, ‘Her Smell’ captures one woman’s chaotic addiction at the pinnacle of 1990’s grunge stardom, her fall to addiction, and her raw transformation through recovery and redemption. Helmed by Award-winning director Alex Ross Perry, ‘Her Smell’ charters unknown territory with raw magnetism and vulnerability. ‘Her Smell’ opens at TIFF Bell Lightbox in Toronto on April 12 for a two-week run then sprawls across Canada from Quebec to British Columbia.


The Canadian theatrical release of ‘Her Smell’ comes on the heels of a successful Festival run; The female-led film gained notoriety on the festival circuit, garnering critical acclaim and a nomination for the prestigious Platform Prize at its World Premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival in 2018; Nomination for the Jury Prize and Pinkenson Award win (Honourable Mention) for Direction at the Philadelphia Film Festival in 2018; Nominations for the Audience Award at both the AFI Film Fest in 2018 and the Americana Film Fest in 2019; And finally, taking home the Dublin Film Critics Special Jury Prize at the Dublin International Film Festival this year.


‘Her Smell’ is directed by Alex Perry Ross and stars Cara Delevigne (Suicide Squad, 2016), Agyness Deyn (Hail, Caesar!, 2016), Amber Heard (Aquaman, 2018), Gayle Rankin (GLOW, 2017-2018), Ashley Benson (Pretty Little Liars, 2011-2017), and more.  


As part of the Canadian theatrical release, seven select theatres will be showcasing the feature film; TIFF Bell Lightbox in Toronto, Ontario will be screening ‘Her Smell’ for a two-week run beginning April 12; Cinema Modern in Montreal, Quebec, Apollo Cinema in Kitchener, Ontario, and Rio Cinema in Vancouver will be screening ‘Her Smell’ for one-week beginning April 26; Globe Cinema in Calgary, Alberta and Mayfair Theatre in Ottawa, Ontario will be screening ‘Her Smell’ for one-week beginning May 3; And Metro Cinema in Edmonton, Alberta will be screening ‘Her Smell’ for one-week beginning May 17.
